Have you seen how many USAGE Gb of open data?

In Summary: Open data produced by Municipality of Ferrara in  USAGE are available in https://data.europa.eu/ portal; just search and download 10cm orthophotos, hyperspectral images, images thermal, DTM, DSM, and other datasets ... also in Cloud Optimized GeoTIFF standard format

Our parnter Deda Next is excited to announce that open data produced within USAGE project are now available not only at https://dati.comune.fe.it/ but they are already harvested by the USAGE web catalogue (https://usage.geocat.live/catalogue) and are also available in the open data portals at regional (https://dati.emilia-romagna.it/), national (https://dati.gov.it/) and in the EU level (https://data.europa.eu/).

Indeed, thanks to interoperability, the Municipal open data portal is federated with other catalogues and can be easily harvested.

This is possible thanks to standards like DCAT-AP for metadata, but also to OGC standard protocols and formats.

The open data portal of Ferrara Municipality was setup by DEDA NEXT and is based on CKAN open source solution. The majority of open data are made available using standard endpoints like OGC WMS (ISO19128) and OGC WFS (ISO1942) as also requested by INSPIRE Directive.

An application: to provide near-real time data about air quality and climate conditions, 10 WFS endpoints are available from https://dati.comune.fe.it/dataset?q=aria to allow GI users to access hourly data about PM2.5, PM10, O3 and other parameters, automatically updated every hour on the geographical server of the Ferrara Municipality.

Second application: another OGC standard (COG = Cloud Optimized GeoTIFF) is used to provide large raster images to GIS users. High resolution orthophotos (at 10cm) as well as Digital Terrain / Surface Models, vegetation indexes or thermal images collected by our partner AVT Airborne Sensing are accessible from QGIS and other GIS solutions as well as from simple web maps like https://sit.comune.fe.it/allegati/mappe/usage/RasterCOG.html  or https://sit.comune.fe.it/allegati/mappe/usage/VegIndex.html.
