USAGE interviews Francesca Borea from Municipality of Ferrara (MOF)

What is the main role of MOF in the USAGE project?

As part of USAGE, the Municipality has identified the objectives and challenges (for example how contrasting climate change, heat and flooding), coherent with the PUG and Secap, to be developed in the uses cases so that the technological partners identify the tools to support decisions and provide data to make decisions.

What are the actual challenges of MOF that could be tackled within USAGE?

The first challenge is to reach an agreement (including legal aspect) with the actors (public and private entities) who manage the data to create an urban data space. The second challenge is have quick tools to identify:

The third challenge is organize and develop (existing) datasets on biodiversity in the formats of the inspire directive.  Other challenge is involve citizens on climate change issues in all its aspects

How is Ferrara redesigning the city thanks to USAGE solutions?

Thanks to the identification of the hot spots, the Municipality will be able to define the redesign interventions of the squares with full knowledge of the facts. The tools developed allow us to better understand the flooding phenomena and where to intervene on the sewer system and canals. Thanks to USAGE there will be rules and simplifications in data sharing between entities working in the same territory.
