USAGE interviews Francesca Noardo from Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC)

What is the main role of OGC in the USAGE project?

OGC leads WP3, guiding the definition of the data space architecture starting from available standards, data and solutions and improving current standards, as well as possibly initiating new ones to enable and support interoperability within the USAGE data space. In addition, any solution developed and tested within USAGE will be reported in the OGC standardisation working group as a feedback and input for further development.

How does your expertise contribute to the overall aims of the USAGE project?

Expertise in F.A.I.R. data management, standards and tools supporting interoperability and a standardised use of data, allows the connection of a high number of components and sharing of data across several resources reducing the efforts for properly understanding the data and their quality. Semantic technologies and APIs are also critical to this goal.

How standardisation activities are contributing in the realisation of urban data spaces?

Standards are an essential element for interoperability and for enabling the distributed data ecosystem which is at the base of the technological site of data spaces.
